Q: Hey! Thanks for taking the time to be here. Can you start by sharing a little bit about yourself and your family? *

Gemstone Gallery is a family-owned business with deep roots in the world of jewelry and mineral specimens. My husband developed a passion for minerals early in life, inspired by his brother, a geologist. Over the years, he began collecting unique specimens from around the world, many of which are now featured in the store—some even passed down from his late brother’s personal collection. I share s a deep love for beautiful jewelry and takes great pride in sharing it with customers. Together, we’ve worked hard for many years to build a shop that reflects their dedication, expertise, and love for what we do.

Q: I love learning about how people began their career path because our stories are always so different. What was the inspiration or reason you decided to do what you do? *

The inspiration behind opening Gemstone Gallery came from a lifelong love of beauty, nature, and craftsmanship. My husband’s fascination with mineral specimens, sparked in childhood and deepened by his geologist brother, grew into a passion for collecting treasures from around the world. My love for fine jewelry and sharing it with others made opening a store a natural next step. Together, we’ve created a space where their shared passions could come to life and be enjoyed by the community.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?

We have lived and worked in the Escondido community for many years. We’ve built lasting relationships with our customers and take pride in being part of the heart of downtown. Our dedication to quality, honesty, and personalized service has made them a trusted presence in the area and a valued part of the local business community.

Q: If you could go back in time what advice would you give yourself? *

If we could go back in time, the advice would be to trust the journey, stay patient during the slow seasons, and always stay true to the passion that started it all. Building a business takes time, heart, and resilience—and every challenge along the way is part of what makes it meaningful and lasting.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years? *

In 5 to 10 years, we hope to see Gemstone Gallery continuing to share the beauty of fine jewelry and mineral specimens with the community. We envision the store still thriving in the heart of Escondido, carrying on the legacy of quality, passion, and personal service that has always defined us. Whether through family, trusted team members, or new partners who share our values, we hope the spirit of the store continues for years to come.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

We’re inspired by the people who walk through our doors every day—our loyal customers, fellow small business owners, and the community that supports us. Their appreciation, stories, and connections remind us why we do what we do. Their trust and encouragement continue to motivate us to grow, improve, and share the beauty we love with even more heart.

Patti & Our Community

Q: Ok, let's talk about our amazing community for a moment. What are a few of your local favorite spots? *

Our community in Escondido is full of charm and character, and we’re proud to be a part of it. A few of our favorite local spots include the California Center for the Arts for its incredible events and performances, A Delight of France for a cozy bite, and the historic Grand Avenue itself, filled with unique shops, great food, and friendly faces. We love the local farmers markets and art walks that bring everyone together—this community truly has a heart.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you've met here? *

Over the past 10 years, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many interesting and wonderful people in the store—it’s hard to choose just one. From passionate collectors and world travelers to artists and local historians, each person brings a unique story and perspective. That’s one of the best parts of working here—the connections and conversations that stay with you long after they leave.

Q: Give us a fun fact about yourself that people may not know. *

A fun fact about her that many people may not know is that I used to clean horse stalls—and I absolutely loved it! My daughter had a horse, and I was very involved in taking care of it. I found real joy and peace in that time, and it reflects the kind of dedication and care I try to bring to everything I do.

Q: What community organizations and/or local nonprofits do you admire/support?

If I were trying to get a friend to move here, I’d tell them that Escondido is a hidden gem with a warm, welcoming community and a vibrant, small-town feel. There’s a rich mix of culture, history, and creativity—from the art walks and farmers markets to the locally owned shops and restaurants along Grand Avenue. People here look out for each other, and there’s a real sense of pride in keeping the heart of the city alive. It’s a beautiful place to live, work, and feel connected.
